Christmas in Pyrmont Celebration

The 2023 Christmas in Pyrmont celebration was held on Sunday 26th November at the Refinery Square in Pyrmont. The annual fair helps to kick off the festive celebrations for the local area whilst also raising funds and awareness for various charities directly involved with the community. Volunteers on behalf of the Australian Mutuals Foundation attended this year’s event to provide assistance and help spread holiday cheer.

The fair is organised by a group of like-minded volunteers with the event showcasing an array of markets, live music, performances, and lots of fun children’s activities. This year, the charities and organisations being supported were Uniting Harris Community, Pyrmont Cares, Ultimo Public School, and Barnardos Australia – Australian Mutuals Foundation’s top charity partner.

The support provided to Barnardos Australia through the Christmas in Pyrmont event is vital in helping to ensure the continuation of the life-changing services provided by Barnardos to children and their families. Funds raised help to support Barnardos programs including counselling and therapy, school and homework assistance, and parenting and family support services. With the current cost-of-living crisis, Barnardos has reported a surge of children and families in need of help. With many families struggling to meet their children’s most basic needs, providing a roof over their heads, and an alarming increase of child abuse and neglect, the need for services provided by Barnardos has never been greater.

At the Christmas in Pyrmont event, our volunteers helped to operate the kid’s activities hall, with arts and crafts, and face painting as the main attraction. Volunteering days like these provide a wonderful and rewarding opportunity to give back to the community and support the valuable work of Barnardos.

The Australian Mutuals Foundation is proud to be the top corporate donor partner to Barnardos Australia which is one of Australia’s leading children’s charities. If you would like to help support their amazing work this festive season please donate to their Christmas Appeal.
